Greetings Coaches and Prospective Coaches!
Thank your for volunteering to be a part of the Leesburg Girls Softball League (LGSL). If you’re new, LGSL is a girl’s fast-pitch softball league serving players ages 4 to 18 in the greater Leesburg, Virginia area.
We have separate Spring and Fall recreational seasons and they are run with the objective of serving girls of our community regardless of their skill level. Our Spring Season is a full competitive season; where our Fall season is generally very low key and a time where we catch up on fundamentals and development. LGSL also offers the Freedom All-Star Summer and Revolution Travel experience for those who are ready to kick it up a notch and take it to the next level; all right here in the greater Leesburg area.
As a coach, you are the most important person in our organization. You determine the kind of experience our athletes have with sports. Our league can only survive based upon the commitment of people like yourselves who are willing to provide the time and effort to manage and coach our players. Our coaches are part of an organization that expects the best for themselves and for their players.
There is no one single action that can have more of a positive impact on our players than improving the quality and knowledge of our managers and coaches. Our new coaches manual is a tool for you to use to understand our leagues philosophy, administrative guidelines and forms and most importantly, some very useful tools for planning a positive, productive and fun softball experience for all.
Like it’s author, LGSL Director of Player & Coach Development, Karen Avvisato, this manual is new to LGSL. Whether you’re new to LGSL or one of our veteran coaches, I think you will like what you read.
